Welcome to the Chestermere Citizens on Patrol Association’s (CCOPA) website. Here you will find information regarding our organization along with contact info. There are many COP groups throughout Canada and our local CCOPA came into being in May, 2010. As Chestermere experienced phenomenal growth over the last few years along with it came the inevitable increase in crime. To help offset this the local Policing Committee along with the local RCMP detachment felt that a COP organization would play a very positive role in helping to reduce crime in our neighborhood and allow the residents to get involved with this initiative.
Our mission is to act as eyes and ears to our local RCMP detachment and in doing so help to reduce crime in our community. This is strictly a passive role and we do not involve ourselves in any incidents. We look, we listen, we record and we report.
WHO WE ARE Like most of you we are concerned residents wanting to contribute a little something back to our community. The only requirements are:
Must be at least 18 years old
Must be a resident of Chestermere
Must be able to pass a RCMP screening
In addition we would ask that you be able to contribute 5 hrs a month to patrolling. Our current membership is made up from all walks of life young men and women, retirees and those in between.
